Hamadryad - Safe in Conformity (2005)

Click to listen sample

Four years after their last effort (and one lead singer less), French-Canadian band Hamadryad, now a quartet, releases its second album "Safe in Conformity".

To be honest I think they're not missing his former singing, since bassist Jean-François Désilets filled in the hole without problems. I would even say that with him up front the band's sound is closer to the classic prog style they've always managed (again, Peter Gabriel's influence is more than evident).

The record is very melodic with some great passages. A very nice acoustic guitar work enrichens many of the tracks, so despite a couple of insignificant ballads, the overall performance is very recommendable. Check "Safe Made Men" and "Polaroid Vendetta" which I consider the highlights of this record.
